Anti-gastritic and Anti-H.pylori Activity of Amomum villosum

Abstract

|
|
The present study was carried out for the development of a new gastroprotective supplementary product. Five herbs that have GI protective property were selected from Dongeuibogam to be evaluated for anti-bacterial activity against Helicobacter pylori. The material used in the test were water extract of Alpinia oxyphylla (AO), Astragalus membranaceus (AM), Cinnamomum loureirii (CL), Citrus aurantium (CA) and Amomum villosum (AV). They were tested individually on HCl·ethanol-induced gastric lesions in rats, AV, CL, AO showed the most significant effectiveness, respectivly. Amomum villosum (AV) ethanol extract was fractionated with hexane, chloroform, butanol and water. The most active fraction was butanol that was investigated by a HCl·ethanol-induced gastric model. Data suggests that Amomum villosum (AV) can be applied as treatment of gastritis and Helicobacter pylori.
